Dr. Sharon Gavin Levy is a minister and educator committed to transforming lives in the classroom, church
and community. A Professor Emerita of English, she earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Bucknell
University and a doctorate from Lehigh University. Sharon has 30 years of college teaching experience and
is a strong advocate for education, equity and opportunity. She believes, “education can change your life. It
can transform you, transport you, translate you.”
In addition to her work in higher education, Dr. Levy has extensive teaching, training and speaking
experience in the church and secular worlds. Her passion and purpose is to educate, motivate and inspire her audiences.
Sharon and her husband Harold are ordained Elders at Greater Shiloh Church under the leadership of Pastor
Phillip Davis and Co-Pastor Kristina Davis. Dr. Levy teaches in the Kingdom Bible Institute, Adult Sunday
School and New Members Orientation. A certified Biblical counselor, she leads a Women’s Connect Group
and serves on the Women’s Council. Sharon loves the opportunity to enrich the lives of others because she believes we’re “blessed to be a blessing.
Sharon and Harold have one daughter, Nicole, and two beautiful grandchildren who have given Dr. Levy her favorite name of all – Nona!
Retired NCC professor shares life lessons in new book
